Turkey visa runs: how the day limits work
How long you can stay in Turkey visa-free — and whether a border run helps — depends on your passport.
By passport
- Ukraine, Kazakhstan: up to 90 days within any 180-day period (a rolling window).
- Russia: up to 60 days per entry, but total stay is capped at 90 days within any 180-day period.
- Belarus: up to 30 days per entry, with total stay capped at 90 days within a year.
Does a border run reset your days?
Partly. For Russian and Belarusian passports, leaving and re-entering starts a fresh per-entry allowance (60 or 30 days) — but the overall cap within the window still counts all your recent days. Once you have used your 90 days in the window, a border run gives no more. For the plain 90/180 rolling limit (Ukraine, Kazakhstan), a border run does nothing at all.
Rules change and can differ by situation. Confirm the current limit for your passport before you travel — this is general information, not legal advice.
How to keep track
- Know both numbers that apply to you: the per-entry cap and the window cap.
- Count every present day, including entry and exit days, within the current window.
- Watch your leave-by date, not a rough guess.
